The Danish Club of Austin was founded in 2005 by a few Danish immigrant families who wished to foster greater community with fellow Danes in the Central Texas area. Since then, it has grown to over 200 members.
The club is now a diverse mix of families, children, retirees, students, and single professionals. Some moved from Denmark to Texas years ago, some are here on temporary work assignments, others have a Nordic family history and wish to learn more about their heritage.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors are elected by the club on a rotating annual basis. If you’re interested in running for a position during the next election, please email Tina Fjelde.
Tina Fjelde – President
Emily Sorensen – Vice President
Emily is a native Texan whose introduction to Denmark came in the form of a friendly Dane who came to Austin for a few months as a visiting researcher at UT. Now seven years later, they’ve both made Austin their home but do their best to stay connected to Denmark and ensure their daughter is raised knowing her Danish heritage and learning the Danish language.
Uffe Bo Petersen is a native Dane who graduated from the University of Texas. Uffe and his American wife, Alison, relocated back to Austin 5 years ago where they now reside with their three children.
Simon and his family (Danish wife Camilla and two kids) moved to Austin from Singapore in 2010. He is Sr. Vice President for an international advertising agency and looking forward to creating a strong Danish business community in Austin.
